Eric Boodman
General Assignment Reporter
Eric Boodman is a general assignment reporter at STAT, focused on narrative features. He's written about everything from entomologists who specialize in fictional infestations to lapses in infant death investigations. He joined STAT at its founding in 2015. He got his start in journalism in high school, reviewing bird books for the Montreal Gazette, before studying at Yale, and his stories have won the American Society of Magazine Editors "Next" Award for Journalists Under 30, the Evert Clark/Seth Payne Award for Young Science Journalists, the Science in Society Award, and the Deborah Howell Award for Writing Excellence, among others. He likes reporting in person, playing Québécois fiddle, and looking at insects.
